THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SCHOOL

Penang Free School is a day school that provides education from form 1(year 7) to Pre-University
(Form 6). Students in Penang Free School are selected based on their academic results. Only the best are allow admission to this school. Students who are successful will have to sit for another diagnostic test to determine the classes they go to. The students are selected into three categories namely: 1A to 1D learn French or Arabic, 1E and 1F music while 1G and 1H general. The Diagnostic test includes:
a)  Science
b)  Mathematics
c)  IQ
d)  English
All the diagnostic test are conducted in English.

Every year about 250 students with very good results are allow to the school. Excellent students who live far away from Penang Free School are given accommodations. Penang Free Schools has two hostels that are fully equipped and are situated in the school compound.

Basically, this school is an all boys’ school with the exceptions that girls are allow to join the school in Form 6 or year 12 and year 13.

Penang Free School makes sure that all the boys starting from 2008, will be exposed to the game of Cricket and Hockey. Although the boys may not be state or school players when they leave schools, at least the boys knows the rules, and have some basic skills on these games.
